About
The Rosenwald Schools program emerged from the partnership between Booker T. Washington and Julius Rosenwald and was later directed from a Southern Office in Nashville under Samuel L. Smith.
Between 1913 and 1938, more than 5,000 schools, teacher homes, and libraries were built across 15 states with support from state departments of education and local communities.
