Loachapoka School
Photo of Loachapoka School in Lee County, Alabama. A note on the back that says, "Loachapoka School, Lee Co. Ala. The first Rosenwald School built in 1913-14. This pictures was taken in April 1929 - 15 years after it was built. It was said to be the first rural school in the county. Now, schools much better are being abandoned for new, modern Rosenwald Schools, each year. It was remodeled in 1934-35. Enlarged from Kodak picture. Taken by S. L. Smith in April 1929. Dedicated by Booker T. Washington and State Supt. Feagan in June 1914. The first 6 State Agents of Negro Ed. in the So. were present as guests at the Dedication: Jackson Davis, Va.; F. C. Button, Ky.; Jos. L. Sibley, ALa.; Leo M. Favrot, Ark.; N.C. Newhold, N.C.; and S.L. Smith, Tenn.".
