Old and New Young School
Photo shows the front of both the old and newly built Young school in Warren, North Carolina with notes on the back that says "Young School in Warren County North Carolina about 15 miles from town, where a physician was rarely seen until after the new school was built which soon attracted attention of official who built a good auto cross road via this school. The Negroes are so prond of the school that they call it the "College". It was named for a negro farmer in the community who was not satisfied with the old log house shown at the left." An additional note identifies the "Cost of school $2150. Negroes $500. Public 1150. The Fund 500. Has classroom, a community room, two cloak rooms, two sanitary privies. The school is equipped with modern desks. SL."
