Ms. Gregory sought further training in Public Health Nursing. Ms. Gregory was part of the Tuberculosis dispensary, and she always got along with the patients in the dispensary. Other than that, Ms. Gregory was very much interested in her work, was anxious to progress, and she was worked in harmony with other nurses in her station. She was even one of the 5 Negro nurses employed by the Division of Health.

Fellowship Application of Vallateen Virginia Dudley A letter of correspondence from M.O. Bousfield to Mrs. Valla Dudley Abbington written on March 3, 1939. Mr. Bousfield congratulated Mrs. Abbington, even though he was not aware. Mr. Bousfield mentioned that he is not very keen on radio sketches, but he referred to one which happened in Houston, Texas a few years prior when the Southern Conference on Tuberculosis met there. Dr. F.C. Elliott Dean of the Texas Dental College was responsible for that sketch. This letter was ccd to Dr. F.C. Elliott.

Ms. Dudley relayed that the Local Urban League asked her and her students to prepare a radio sketch for Negro Health Week on April. She wrote at the behest of a suggestion from Dr. Leavells secretary, to ask Dr. Bousfield for any materials he had available to assist them.

Ms. Dudley had been cognizant of all circumstances with the Scholarship Committee, but she was anxious of the verdict on her application, so she could relay a decision to her superintendent.

Ms. Hobbs acknowledged Ms. Dudleys letter of August 14, but Dr. Bousfield was absent on vacation. Ms. Hobbs relayed that it was quite impossible for any scholarship decision to be made by September 1 because the Scholarship Committee would not meet for some time.

Ms. Dudley mentioned that she applied for a scholarship about 1.5 years ago, and when she applied, she was assured that she would be notified if she was granted an award. However, Ms. Dudley hadnt been notified at the time, and she was anxious to obtain her Masters degree and enter into a larger field of Health Service. So, Ms. Dudley inquired if she was still eligible to apply and what she could do have her application renewed and considered.
