A letter sent to Mr. John Tyler Caldwell from Mr. George M. Reynolds on September 25, 1939 seeking updated information about Mr. Caldwell status after the fellowship. Mr. Caldwell was an Instructor for the Department of History and Political Science, Vanderbilt University at the time, and he had obtained a Ph.D. degree on June 22. His Ph.D. thesis was still in the works, and the Bureau of Agricultural Economics employed him in the summer to make a preliminary survey of the governmental and financial aspects of drainage districts in the Yazoo Backwater Area oif Mississippi.
