A correspondence sent to the Fellowship Committee from Ms. Dorthy A. Elvidge on March 17, 1944 regarding allocation of fellowship funds available. A total of 12,558.50 dollars in funds were held for fellows in the armed services such as, Mr. Charles T. Davis, Mr. James Walter Fisher, Mr. Frederick D. Jenkins, Mr. Frederick S. Barkalow, Jr., Mr. Robert F. Gibbons, Mr. Thomas Byrd Ham, Mr. John W. Lipscomb, Mr. John N. Lyle, Mr. Raymond R. MacCurdy, Jr., Mr. Edward A. McLeilan, Mr. Jesse W. Markham, Mr. James K. Owen, Mr. Henry A. Page, Jr., Mr. James W. Rabun, and Mr. LeRoy W. Watson, Jr. A total of $17,745 in funds, held for other reasons, were meant for the following fellows, Mr. Ralph Bunche, Mr. Lyonel C. Florant, Mr. Clinton F. Oliver, Mr. Thomas N. Roberts, Mr. Mark Hanna Watkins, Mr. J. Ernest Wilkins, Jr., Mr. Alfred B. Bonds, Jr., Mr. Herschel Brickell, Mr. John H. Faulk, Mr. Tom Lea, and Mr. Raven I. McDavid, Jr. Ms. Elvidge also summarized the number of Negro and White Southerner fellowship awards and scholarship-aids were made in April 1943.
