Her plan of work was to write a history of the Julius Rosenwald Funds aid to education in the South, and to complete graduate studies at the University of Chicago. The grant was sought from June 1948 through June 1949 . The training in History would be done under the supervision of Avery O. Craven at the University of Chicago.
