An application from Beverly Joseph Layman for a fellowship in Language and Literature. Mr. Layman was a Teaching fellow in General Education and an Assistant senior tutor of Leverett House, Harvard University at the time of this application. His plan of work was to finish thesis and obtain a Doctoral degree by June 1949, then return to the South and teach Humanities by methods learned under Professor I.A. Richards. The grant was sought from June 1948 through June 1949 .
