Description

An application from Pearl Eileene Primus for a fellowship in Dancing. Ms. Primus was a Dancer at the time of this application. Her plan of work was to interpret James Weldon Johnsons Gods Trombones through the medium of the dance, and to express the poem Go Down Death as adynamic and hypnotic story of people in search of comfort for their grief. The grant was sought from June 1948 through June 1949 . The training in Anthropology would be done under the supervision of Ms. Gene Weltfish at Columbia University.
