An application from Hilda Jane Zimmerman for a fellowship in American History. Her plan of work was to carry on research in Southern History and to write a doctoral dissertation on A History of Penal Reforms in the South Since the Civil War. The grant was sought from September 1945 through September 1946 . The training would be done under the supervision of Dr. Fletcher M. Green, Professor of American History at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, N.C. Also included is Ms. Zimmermans breakdown of her budget estimate.
