Description
An application from Lorenzo Dow Turner for a fellowship in Linguistics and Folklore. Mr. Turner was a Professor, the Head of the Department of English and Acting, and the Director of the Curriculum in African Studies for Fisk University at the time of this application. His plan of work was to complete and publish 3 volumes of AfroBrazilian folk material, an annotated collection of Yoruba secular and religious songs, an annotated volume of Yoruba texts, and a collection of Yoruba stories for children edited in Portuguese with English translation. The grant was sought from June 1945 through June 1946 .
