An application from Keturah Elisabeth Whitehurst in 1948, requesting a grant for eighteen months beginning in June to complete requirements for the Ph.D. degree. This includes passing the language and general examinations, completing two months of fieldwork, writing a thesis, and other assignments at Redeliffe College. Included is a handwritten evaluative note on the application. It assigns a grade of C and contains a brief written assessment, including the phrase “no evidence.” Other portions of the note are present but are not fully legible.
