The documents contain 1942 and 1943 fellowship applications from Charles Wilbert White. In 1942, applied to study mural techniques in Mexico, and to paint a mural depicting the role of the Negro in the development of a democratic America, but had to change his plan because Draft Board would not allow Mr. White to leave the country. So, he reapplied in 1943 with a substitute position at the Art Students League of New York and was given 2,000 dollars for one year. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded, as well as a handwritten note evaluating the applications.
