An application from Philip Junius Valentine in 1948, requesting a one-year grant to begin in September to pursue a ScD. degree in mechanical engineering, majoring in A.G.T. research and design, with emphasis on the turbo-jet engine division of aircraft gas turbines. Wishes to study under the supervision of Professor C. Richard Soderberg. Included is a handwritten evaluative note on the application, including the phrase “Interesting case.” Other portions of the note are present but are not fully legible.
