An application from Winfred Bruce Welch in 1948, requesting a one-year grant beginning in June make a survey of contemporary youth work among Negroes in Texas to determine which types have been most successful and analyze them to find the reasons for success or failure toward the Th.D. degree in Social Ethics at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary under the supervision of Dr. T. B. Maston. Included is a handwritten evaluative note on the application. It assigns a grade of A- or B and contains a brief written assessment, including the phrase “Interesting yongster.” Other portions of the note are present but are not fully legible.
