The documents contain a 1944 and 1945 applications from Nora Rasby Tucker, a Bibliographer. In 1944, the applicant requested a one year grant beginning in September to fulfill requirements leading to the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Latin American History at American University with a dissertation The Causes and Results of the Guerra Federale in Venezuela, 1858 to 1372. Seeks further training for a position in government service or teaching in a college or university under Dr. Louis Hunter.Reapplied in 1945 for a one year grant beginning in September to complete a dissertation on A History of the Ministry of Labor and Its Relationship with the Labor Movement in Cuba. Included are handwritten evaluative notes on the application. One assigns a grade of A minus, the other a B, and both contain brief written assessments on the application.
