An application from Charles Everett Sebree, requesting a grant beginning June 1944. The plan of work was to paint a series of twenty illustrations for the poems of American Negro poets. Mr. Sebree reapplied for another grant beginning June 1945, and he reapplied for another grant beginning June 1946 towards working under the supervision of Owen Dodson. These applications were submitted in 1944 through 1946, and the chosen field is Painting. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Mr. Sebree in 1945, as well as handwritten notes: Unquestionably a top man [even though I don't like his stuff] illegible] and I don't think we can go on forever illegible].
