An application from Samuel Albert Rosenberg, requesting a grant beginning September 1943. The plan of work was to continue research in Negro Cooperatives and to study the possibilities and methods of accelerating a cooperative program among Negroes, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at the University of North Carolina under the supervision of Drs. Howard odum and John Woosley. This application was submitted in 1943, and the chosen field is Economics. Included are handwritten notes: This isn't a Southerner. He is a mass youth working at a Yankee mission school [illegible] and Not particularly distinguished record in scholarship [illegible].
