Robertson, requesting a grant towards researching the sources of secterian religion [especially related to Baptsist and Methodist groups[ for the purpose of getting justice and decency for the Negro and poor White people, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary. This application was submitted in 1944, and the chosen field is Religion. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Robertson in 1944, as well as a handwritten note: I don't [illegible] this man has anything on the toll.
