An application from Thomas Nathaniel Roberts, requesting a grant beginning September 1940 towards researching the possibilities for the combination of the Farm Forest Entreprise in the agricultural economy of the Southeast, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at the University of Wisconcin under Dr. Asher Hobson. Mr. Rivers reapplied for another grant beginning July 1941 towards researching land economics with special reference to the Multiple-Land Use approach, while working under Dr. George S. Wehrwein. These applications were submitted in 1940 and 1941, and the chosen field is Economics-Agriculture. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Mr. Roberts across 1940 and 1941, as well as a handwritten note: An unusually able man. has done a top job on the Tuskegee Development Project [illegible].
