The plan of work was to collect and translate the works of outstanding contemporary Negro French authors [special attention to Latin American French-speaking countries[, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at New York University under the supervision of Dr. Walter Barnes. This application was submitted in 1945, and the chosen field is English. Included is a handwritten note: Nothing beyond 'good' 'industrious'.
