Description
An application from James Pipes Register, requesting a grant beginning May 1944. The plan of work was to do a thorough investigation of being Negro as a workman on Mississippi River Levee System. Mr. Register reapplied for another grant beginning May 1945. These applications were submitted in 1944 and 1945, and the chosen fields are Creative Writing and History. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Register in 1944, as well as a handwritten note: Not interested in this man again. We have nothing to base any judgement on as to what he has done or can do further.
