An application from Jacob Lorenzo Reddix, requesting a grant towards doing a study Possibilities of Cooperative Societies Among Negroes at the University of Chicago, and to obtain a Master of Arts degree under Dr. Paul H. Douglas. This application was submitted in 1939, and the chosen field is Economics. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Ms. Reddix across 1939 and 1940, as well as a record of professional career and handwritten notes: Top man in Negro coops. Excellent personality - clearly a leader [illegible] and I'm for giving this man anything he wants [illegible].
