An application from Lawrence Dunbar Reddick, requesting a grant towards studying the description and measurement of news and opinion relative to the Negro which appeared in the ante-bellum New Orleans press. Mr. Reddick reapplied for another 8-month grant beginning May 1945 towards collecting and editing the writings of Frederick Douglass. These applications were submitted in 1939 and 1945, and the chosen field is History. Included are memoranda summarizing the grants awarded to Mr. Ramsey across 1939 and 1945, as well as a record of professional career and handwritten notes: Top man. [illegible] of the best of the younger faculty gathered at Dillard [illegible] and Top man. He should have anything he wants that is reasonable.
