Record of Fellowships Granted, Written Addendums, and Fellowship Application with Written Notes from Cy Wilson Record
Description
An application from Cy Wilson Record, requesting a grant beginning September 1942. The plan of work was to do a study of three possible situations involving efforts to organize Negro and White workers into unions, and to obtain a Master of Arts degree in Philosophy and Economics at the university of Chicago under T.V. Smith. Mr. Record reapplied for another grant beginning June 1946 towards investigating the racial factor in industrial relations and policies in the shipbuilding industry in the states of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and North Carolina during the period 1940-1945. These applications were submitted in 1942 and 1946, and the chosen fields are Economics and Race Relations. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Record in 1946, as well as handwritten notes: Good interesting chap, interested in Negro labor [illegible] and Top man. Excellent references. Excellent academic record [including Chicago Central YMCA College].
