Description
An application from Dorothy Burnett Porter, requesting a grant beginning September 1944. The plan of work was to prepare a bibliographical essay on the contributions of the Negro to Spanish American and Brazilian poetry and fiction. Mrs. Porter reapplied for another grant beginning September 1945 towards preparing a bibliography of literature on the Negro in Latin America located in American libraries, and she reapplied for another grant beginning September 1948. These applications were submitted in 1944, 1945, and 1948, and the chosen field is Library Science. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mrs. Porter across 1930, 1931, and 1944, as well as a record of professional career and handwritten notes: An excellent scholar with a fine record [illegible], We cannot carry her anymore, and She has had three grants 1930, 31, 44. That is a stint. This is really a project [not a fellowship] [illegible].
