Description
An application from Harold Thomas Pinkett, requesting a two-year grant towards studying the causes, extent, and significance of Negro participation in the Populist movement, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at Columbia University under Professor Allan Nevins. Mr. Pinkett reapplied for another grant beginning September 1948 towards obtaining a Ph.D. degree in History - special attention to the history and administration of archives in the United States - at the American university under the supervision of Dr. Ernst Posner. These applications were submitted in 1942 and 1948, and the chosen field is History. Included are handwritten notes: I don't see anything here [illegible] and I rated him C last year which seems to me where he still belongs.
