An application from Marion Palfi, requesting a grant beginning June 1946. The plan of work was to make three extensive picture series - The Problems of Youth, The Great 'Unknown' Negro, and Know Thy Neighbor - for possible book publication; was on an assignment for the American Missionary Association to publish a book Ups and Down in collaboration with Langston Hughes and L.B. Fischer. Ms. Palfi reapplied for another 7-month grant towards completing a photographic study of socio-economics conditions among American youth, with special reference to metropolitan New York City and selected localities in the South. These applications were submitted in 1946 and 1947, and the chosen fields are Race relations and Photography. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Ms. Palfi in 1946, as well as handwritten notes: Good person: seems to me above [illegible] and A good person. But we're out of this field now [illegible].
