Record of Fellowships Granted, Written Addendum, Fellowship Application, and Fellowship Reappointment from Gilbert Dwoyid Olmstead
-
Description
-
An application from Gilbert Dwoyid Olmstead, requesting a grant beginning June 1946. The plan of work was to further develop the ability to use photography as a medium to tell a story in pictures. Mr. Olmstead reapplied for another grant beginning July 1947 towards working on the picture edition of Black Metropolis and publish some works already completed, under the supervision of the staff at the Art Center School of Los Angeles. These applications were submitted in 1946 and 1947, and the chosen field is Photography. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Olmstead in 1946, as well as a handwritten note: Rather vague proposal to 'become a better photographer'. No formal education [illegible].
