Title
Record of Fellowships Granted, Written Addendum, and Fellowship Application from Myron O'Higgins
Description
An application from Myron O'Higgins, requesting a eighteen-month grant beginning June 1946. The plan of work was to complete 2 books of poetry: one concerning the consciousness of the mass Negro in a war generation, and the other an experimental subjective treatment of the rebel-idealist in conflict with a materialistic society. Mr. O'Higgins reapplied for another grant beginning July 1947 towards completing the project under the supervision of James T. Farrell and Richard Wright. These applications were submitted in 1946 and 1947, and the chosen field is Creative Writing. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Mr. O'Higgins across 1946 and 1947, as well as a handwritten note: Absolutely top testimony from everybody. Evidently a find. Young. Just right.
