Description
An application from Therman Benjamin O'Daniel, requesting a grant beginning September 1946. The plan of work was to obtain a Ph.D. degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania under either Dr. Arthur H. Quinn or Dr. Edward Sculley Bradley. Mr. O'Daniel reapplied for another grant beginning September 1947 towards writing a dissertation A History of American Negro Biography and Autobiography, from 1900 to the Present Day. These applications were submitted in 1946 and 1947, and the chosen field is Language and Literature. Included is a record of professional career, as well as a handwritten note: A good [excellent] hardworking professor [illegible] Maybe that is enough.
