An application from Setsuko Matsunaga Nishi, requesting a 14-month grant beginning June 1946. The plan of work was to study the development of a new society in its relation to the already existing North Clark Street community and Chicago at large, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at the University of Chicago under the supervision of Dr. Everett C. Hughes. This application was submitted in 1946, and the chosen field is Race Relations. Included is a handwritten note: Hughes not all out. Redfield says project is for too [illegible] Only if project can be restated [illegible].
