The plan of work was to study the Changes in rural land Use and Conservation in tennessee Since 1910 - its Economics Social and Religious Aspects and Consequences in the South, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at George Peabody College under the supervision of Mr. J.R. Whitaker. This application was submitted in 1943, and the chosen field is Sociology. Included is a handwritten note: Wants another year at Peabody and he never studied outside the South [illegible].
