A 1931 and 1940 application file for Raphael O'Hara Lanier. In 1931, as Dean at Florida A. & M. College, he was granted $1,000 to study at Harvard. The 1940 document identifies him as Assistant Director of the National Youth Administration, including handwritten notes dismissing his application with not a chance stating that he was [too old and too dumb].
