An application from Alcee LaBranche Johnson, requesting a one-year grant in July 1948 to develop depth of judgment and proper perspective in directing a joint experimental program for the teaching of citizenship responsibilities and privileges to Negro in Jefferson Davis County, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree in Political Science and Rural Education at the University of Southern California or Columbia University under the supervision of Professors Lynd and Cyr at Columbia. Included is a handwritten note.
