Description
An Application from George Blyden Jackson, requesting a nine-month grant in September 1947 to do a critical study of James Weldon Johnson and his period, and to obtain a Ph.D. degree at the University of Michigan under the supervision of Dr. Joe Lea Davis. Ms. Jackson reapplied for another one-year grant towards taking preliminary examinations in French and German in February, taking doctoral preliminaries in August, and working on her dissertation thereafter. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Ms. Jackson, and a handwritten note.
