An application from Samuel Edward Duncan, requesting a grant for 1948 to gather, organize, interpret, and present data related to A Study of the Efforts of Negro High Schools of North Carolina to Improve Their Educational Progress Through Relations with Their Local Communities. This was to be done while working toward a Ph.D. in Education and Sociology at Cornell University under the supervision of the chairman of the Department of Rural Education. Included is a written addendum.
