Description
An application from Alice Elizabeth Catlett, requesting a grant in 1945 to do a series of lithographs, paintings, and sculptures on the role of the Negro woman in the fight for democratic rights in the history of America. Work to be exhibited in Southern colleges, Negro and White, and some to be allocated to schools by Rosenwald Fund. Ms. Catlett reapplied for another grant for 1946. Included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Ms. Catlett across 1945 and 1946, as well as handwritten notes.
