An application from John Newell Burrus, requesting a grant towards developing a study using Mississppi Delta data and obtaining a Master's degree majoring in Rural Sociology at either Louisiana State University or the University of Minnesota. Mr. Burrus reapplied for another one-year grant for 1948 towards examining various criteria in Mississippi mortality experience and obtaining a Ph.D. degree in Sociology at Louisiana State University under the supervision of Dr. Homer L. Hitt. Included is a handwritten note.
