A collection of handwritten application letters, transcripts, health examination forms, reference letters, a portrait and application forms concerning the application of Annie Louise Brown to the Julius Rosenwald Fund. Brown was applying for the Julius Rosenwald Fund Labor Scholarship, appealing to the board members of the Advisory Council of the CIO War Labor Fund. Brown attended Spelman College with a major in Economics and a minor in English. The chosen field was labor. Handwritten letter reads: "Who is chief steward for the C.I.O. at Firestowe Aircraft Division, was influencial in helping to get the union into the plant [illegible]".
