An application from Alfred Bryan Bonds, Jr., requesting a 1-year grant beginning June 1940. The plan of work was to appraise the interest of the "cotton South" in the formation and operation of domestic and foreign policy, and to obtain a Ph.D. at University of North Carolina under Drs. Pierson, Odum, Vance, and Zimmerman. These applications were submitted in 1940 and 1941, and the chosen field is Political Science. Also included is a memorandum summarizing the grants awarded to Mr. Bonds across 1940 and 1941, as well as his record of professional career and a handwritten note: " Good record [illegible] says 'I have never recommended a man of his capacity and high promise for a Rosenwald award' [illegible]".
