An application from Cleo Walter Blackburn, requesting a one-year grant towards a hypothesis that the high incidence of social disorganization found among Negroes in the North is due to the impact of the cultural patterns of urban industrial communities upon the relatively simple sultural patterns of village and rural life brought from the South. The plan of work was to obtain a Ph.D. at Indinia University under Dr. E.H. Sutherland. This application was submitted in 1942, and the chosen field is Sociology. Also included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Blackburn in 1941, as well as record of professional career and a handwritten note.
