-
Description
-
An application from Richard Henry Bjurberg, requesting a 1-year grant beginning September 1948. The plan of work was to expand a study on the politicians in the state of Alabama during the period 1831-1861 and to study the relationships between the politicians' economic and social status and correlate such a study with their political views. This was to obtain a Ph.D. degree in History at either Duke University or Vandebilt University or North Carolina University while under the supervision of Dr. Frank Owsley or Dr. Fletcher Green. This application was submitted in 1948, and the chosen field is History. Also included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Bjurberg in 1948, as well as a handwritten note: "Clearly a top scholar + teacher. Born in Pennsylvania but [illegible]".
