Applications from Thomas Henry Bembry, requesting a 5-month grant beginning May 1941. The plan of work was to obtain Ph.D. through Columbia University while studying under Dr. Garfield Powell, aimed at the synthesis of compounds possessing marihuana activity with the view of ascertaining the nature of the active psychologically active natural product. Mr. Bembry reapplied for another 5-month grant beginning May 1942. These applications were submitted in 1941 and 1942, and the chosen field is Chemistry.
