An application from Lewis White Beck, requesting a 1-year grant towards studying "race" as an ethical factor, with special reference to the ethical aspects of racial discrimination in the South and in Germany, and to determine what influence there has been on German racial ethics by American thought, and vice versa. The plan of work was to study in University of Berlin, University of N.C. This application was submitted in 1937, and the chosen field is Philosophy. Also included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded to Mr. Beck in 1937, as well as his career since tenure of fellowship.
