The documents contain a 1947 application from Walter C. Bailey, a graduate student at Indiana University. The applicant was given $2400 to complete advanced training in sociology, and to complete the study of rent differentials between Negro and White tenants as indices of restraints to competition for living space imposed upon Negoes by our urban culture through racial discrimination. Also included is a memorandum summarizing the grant awarded.
