Haygood regarding final applications that need to be judged such as Additional materials, Creative artists, Creative writers, Withdrawals, and Scholarship aid. Regarding the judges, the Art jury is stated to include Mr. Peppino Mangravite, Mr. Frank Machau, and Mr. Arunzio Malderelli, Mr. Arna Bontemps replaced Mr. Herschel Brickell as the Literary critic, and the Music composition critic being Mr. William Grant Still. Ms. Paula Snelling and Ms. Lillian would interview the Scholarship Aid candidates, then present the candidates at the Hampton meeting. Candidates include Mr. frank Goodwyn, Mr. Edward Dreyer, Mr. Jacob Lawrence, Mr. Charles White, Mr. Joseph Delaney, Ms. Esther Worden Day, Mr. Lamar Baker, Mr. Gordon Parks, Mr. Louise Meixner Beadel, Mr. John Ansley Griffin, Mr. James Wesley Silver.
