Progress Report for the Brewton-Bond Study, 1938 This collection contains progress report and proposed procedure for the Brewton-Bond study, a special study of rural elementary schools in the South, sponsored by the Julius Rosenwald Fund and conducted by the Division of Surveys and Field Studies at George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville, Tennessee in 1938. It also includes Correspondence between the Rosenwald Fund and Mr. Doak S. Campbell, director of the Division of Surveys and Field Studies, regarding the study’s progress, updates, findings, and expenses. Additionally, the collection features reports on white rural schools in Georgia, payment vouchers documenting expenditures from the study's budget, and records of salary payments to the study's organizers. Creating New Material for Rural Education in the South This collection contains documents and correspondence to and fro Mr. Edwin R. Embree about plans for creating new educational material tailored for schools in the rural South. Many of his colleagues - including Mr. Charles S. Johnson, Mr. Clark Foreman, Mr. T. J. Improving Teachers in the Rural South This collection contains documents, compendia, expenditures, and correspondence pushing for the improvement of rural education in the South. Ida Nance Givens pushed for an "Improvement of Teachers in Service" project, where teachers in schools would be trained to become more adept in vocational activities - Foreman and Schotlandville were schools involved in this project. Mr. Edwin R. Embree had plans for publishing a booklet discussing good teaching practices for teachers to adopt in schools; colleagues, such as Mrs. Catherine J. Duncan and Mr. J. E. Brewton, showed extreme interest in the making of this booklet.

Addressing Medical Care and Health Education in Rural Areas This collection contains documents and memoranda highlighting the situation of health care in rural communities. Plans involved understanding people's perception of health care - people in rural areas - and creating health educational programs for schools and teachers. Questions were currated by Mr. Michael M. Davis towards understanding the general concesus of health care in rural areas; response to these questions were compiled and addressed in Rural School Conference, 1936.

Restructuring Rural Education in the South, 1935 This collection contains invoices, work orders, and correspondence to and fro Mr. Edwin E. Embree about plans for reorganizing rural education in the south, which was published in a 1935 article called "Rural Education". Response to the article were met with concerns, but it piqued the interest of many involved in the Rural Education project. Bulletins of Mr. Embree's plans were offered to be distributed to those who showed high interest, many of which include: Mr. Albert S. Cook, E. A. Duke, Mr. William G. Carr. There was also mention of an "Improvement and Beautification Day" set for March 6, 1936.
